G2D Awards 2013: "Best Game of 2013" Nominees

While overall there surprisingly few solid candidates for this particular list this year, we still had a bit of a difficult time narrowing things down to the currently standardized maximum of six items. We tried to go for a balanced blend of popular and expected and perhaps less known but still quite worthy entries.

Disclaimer: Once again, this finalized list is entirely a matter of bias and opinion, and if that doesn't work for you, we don't work for you anyway. For the rest, we tried to narrow the list by eliminating (through reason and logic) ports, remakes which closely reflect corresponding older games, games that would make the list overly cliche, and games that very few or none of us had played or even heard of. Hopefully the balance satisfies you. Once again, consoles won't be specified unless they hold some sort of great significance to the given item's nomination.

The nominees for "Best Game of 2013" are:

1. Call of Juarez: Gunslinger

2. Grand Theft Auto V

3. The Last of Us

4. Pokemon X/Y

5. Pikmin 3

6. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

The show will be completed and uploaded eventually.

G2D Awards 2013: "Worst Game of 2013" Nominees

This category includes exactly what you (hopefully) think it would: bad games, worse games, major disappointments and games that just suck. Beyond that there's little to be said, other than that there are some entries from this year with the potential to compete vigorously with all of gaming history for a much more significant version of this award.

Disclaimer: This category, like all of the others, is based entirely on the opinions of the eight G2D judges, however, in this particular instance, it's not very likely that the majority judgement will be very controversial. Consoles will only be specified if they are significant to the corresponding nomination.

The nominees for "Worst Game of 2013" are:

1. Resident Evil 6 (PC)

2. Lost Planet 3

3. Ride to Hell: Retribution

4. The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct

5. Deadpool

If you didn't read the other two posts, the show will be completed and uploaded within the first few weeks of January.

G2D Awards 2013: "Most Promising Console This Generation" Nominees

This category consists of all notable consoles of this new generation of the gaming industry, and more specifically, those with the highest potential for great quality (in terms of functionality and game library) in the next several years, obviously based on how things are looking as of this moment.

Disclaimer: In spite of any mindless, arrogant attempts to deny certain claims that are logically undeniable and fairly solid, just to make things perfectly clear, the Nintendo Wii U and 3DS (and even the 2DS) are "next gen." consoles (relative to the PS3, XBox 360, Wii and DS generation)

The nominees for "Most Promising Console This Generation" are:

1. Nintendo Wii U

2. Ouya

3. Sony PlayStation 4

4. Microsoft Xbox One

5. Nintendo 3DS/ 2DS

The show will be completed and uploaded within the first few weeks of January.

G2D Awards 2013: "Best Gaming Purchase" Nominees

This category consists of gaming-related purchases made by G2D in 2013. Potential candidates ranged from hard copies of games to random unpopular accessories, but only only most interesting and obscure (and maybe absurd in some cases) stuff made the final list.

Disclaimer: Eight G2D members will be voting on each category, however, to avoid bias to a reasonable extent, no one may vote for their own purchase. Only one entry per member was allowed.

The nominees for "Best Gaming Purchase" are:

1. Nintendo 64 console -purchased by Anglerte

2. Sega Dreamcast console -purchased by Stevie Jay

3. Deus Ex: The Conspiracy (PlayStaion 2) -purchased by Porpoisemonkey

5. Bassmasters 2000 (Nintendo 64) -purchased by Anglerbe

Carnivores Dinosaur Hunter HD First Impressions

This is one of the first games released in the last seven years and labeled under the "hunting" genre that didn't immediately crush my hopes and dreams. In fact, even though released extremely late, I would say this is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen on my PS3, to the point where I almost want to cry.

If you like genuine hunting games, stop reading this, go buy this game, don't ask questions, and play. And definitely expect a review.

Once again, Merry Christmas!
