G2D Awards 2013: "Most Promising Console This Generation" Nominees

This category consists of all notable consoles of this new generation of the gaming industry, and more specifically, those with the highest potential for great quality (in terms of functionality and game library) in the next several years, obviously based on how things are looking as of this moment.

Disclaimer: In spite of any mindless, arrogant attempts to deny certain claims that are logically undeniable and fairly solid, just to make things perfectly clear, the Nintendo Wii U and 3DS (and even the 2DS) are "next gen." consoles (relative to the PS3, XBox 360, Wii and DS generation)

The nominees for "Most Promising Console This Generation" are:

1. Nintendo Wii U

2. Ouya

3. Sony PlayStation 4

4. Microsoft Xbox One

5. Nintendo 3DS/ 2DS

The show will be completed and uploaded within the first few weeks of January.

G2D Awards 2013: "Best Gaming Purchase" Nominees

This category consists of gaming-related purchases made by G2D in 2013. Potential candidates ranged from hard copies of games to random unpopular accessories, but only only most interesting and obscure (and maybe absurd in some cases) stuff made the final list.

Disclaimer: Eight G2D members will be voting on each category, however, to avoid bias to a reasonable extent, no one may vote for their own purchase. Only one entry per member was allowed.

The nominees for "Best Gaming Purchase" are:

1. Nintendo 64 console -purchased by Anglerte

2. Sega Dreamcast console -purchased by Stevie Jay

3. Deus Ex: The Conspiracy (PlayStaion 2) -purchased by Porpoisemonkey

4. Rampage (Nintendo 64) -purchased by Jburitto

5. Bassmasters 2000 (Nintendo 64) -purchased by Anglerbe

6. Nintendo Wii U console -purchased by Cartemj823

The show will be completed and uploaded within the first few weeks of January.

Carnivores Dinosaur Hunter HD First Impressions

This is one of the first games released in the last seven years and labeled under the "hunting" genre that didn't immediately crush my hopes and dreams. In fact, even though released extremely late, I would say this is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen on my PS3, to the point where I almost want to cry.

If you like genuine hunting games, stop reading this, go buy this game, don't ask questions, and play. And definitely expect a review.

Once again, Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everybody! We probably won't be uploading any video specials by the end of the night (see below for more information), but there are no guarantees.

Now for an update on the fun stuff:

1. Nintendo Wii U Wind Waker HD Bundle

The Good News: Anglerbe and I are now the owners of the limited-edition Wind Waker HD Wii U bundle, which for those who are unaware, means along with the standard console and hardware, we received a free digital copy of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD, as well as a free digital version of the Hyrule Historia.

The Bad News: We don't have any other games, meaning we have no physical games, and given that Nintendo's been having network problems all day, we don't have any Wii U games to play...

The Semi-Redeeming Good News that actually has no effect on our audience: We can finally play Super Smash Bros Brawl! After all those wasted years! Hopefully the laser in the Wii U is a lot more efficient and a lot less puke-like than the one in the Wii, because if in five years I lose the ability to play physical copies of my games, bad things will happen at textbook level.

I also purchased Carnivores Dinosaur Hunter HD from the PlayStation 3 store and Left 4 Dead 2 from Steam, so you can probably expect us to do some G2D stuff with those.

2. Carnivores Dinosaur Hunter HD

3. Left 4 Dead 2

And that's about it. Thank you for your time! Hopefully no one was afflicted too harshly by all the server failure stuff today. From myself and the rest of the team, Merry Christmas!

End of the Year 2013 Show

I apologize for letting December be a dead month, especially relative to how much stuff we've been putting up in these past few months, but between external work and a general lack of creative enthusiasm, I haven't had the will to do anything directly on the blog. However, I'm going to try to do some fun stuff in the next couple weeks by starting some new spontaneous segments on our YouTube channel. Also, the end of the year is obviously coming up quickly, and as you would expect if you you've been following us with any consistency at all (which most of you probably haven't), we'll be doing the end of the year "finale" show in the next couple weeks. And as usual, we'll do our best to have it up by the first week of January and we'l try to make it bearable to watch. After failing to retrieve anything in 2011 and completely over doing it to the opposite extreme in 2012, we hope to finally achieve some level of successful structure and presentation in this year's show, which will be limited to about thirty minutes.

All that being said, here are the categories for the awards show:

1. Best of the Year Nominees

2. Worst of the Year Nominees

3. Most Promising Console This Generation (as of now)

4. Best Staff Purchase

The nominees will be revealed as the new year draws closer. Instead of using a coin, we're going to try something rash and actually have G2D members vote to determine winners. It's not that we didn't like the way things went last year in that particular regard, but Lincoln and that lot already had their turn. Well, thank you for your time!
