Due to some revisions and postponing s, we have decided that it would not be plausible to mash all of the contents of our final show into three videos, and thus, we have decided to split the show into six different videos (which will cycle through in the same pattern our nostalgic games do; 2 videos per channel). We are trying our hardest to complete all of the segments in time for the 1st of January, 2013, but that may not, for qualities (and quantities) sake. However, as with all our holiday and other such specials, we will be sure to have the project complete within a few days of the desired completion time. The show will basically consist of a large composition of different segments, all split up into smaller videos, As of now, the entire show is planned out, and about one third of it has been filmed and edited. The final will include the following (and more):
Battlefield 3 gameplay and commentary segments
Gamed2Death Virtual Hunting Show
Conversation on a Train bloopers
Conflict in the Quad bloopers
Olaf Plays Slender
Uncharted 3 Multiplayer gameplay and commentary with Stefanovich117 and myself
Our Final Nostalgic Games
Until it arrives, please enjoy our other videos, and feel free to like, subscribe, share, and comment! Thank you!
Merry Christmas Eve! There are many goodies in store for the viewers of this blog in the coming days, so be on the look out! The G2D Finale is almost upon us! And we've barely even started it! Well, now you know what we'll be doing for the next week and a half. Until we return, please enjoy this foolishness, and have a great Christmas!
Due to lack of attention on the blog, I've decided that I'm going to make a video concerning the layout of our finale show-thing. Before I do that, however, I want it in typing that I have a couple of new ideas for segments. These were derived from my discover of old gameplay clips, and random ideas that popped in my head. :
Jburitto Plays Skyward Sword (old gameplay clips)
Gamed2Death Virtual Hunting Show segment
Conversation on a Train Bloopers
Carnivores Cityscape Multiplayer Gameplay
Stefanovich117 Uncharted Multiplayer Gameplay (old gameplay clips and commentary)
As always, if you have any suggestions for topics or if you have
anything to say about my suggestions, feel free to leave a comment.
Also, be sure to check out the video above if you're into Carnivores Cityscape. We may organize a date to record multiplayer gameplay for the finale.
I won't be revealing too much at the moment, however, I want the show to be open to viewer suggestions. We will dividing the show into a three part video, of which the three parts will be put on Porpoisemonkey's, Anglerbe's, and my channel respectively.
So far, we are planning the following:
45 Nostalgic Games of Gamed2Death Finale
Appearances by Olaf, Peter Picklepants, and Carlos Montez
Top 10 Video Segment
(Possibly) Special Let's Play Video
(Possibly) Awards Show for Best of 2012
(Possibly) Awards Show for Worst of 2012
Sneak peaks of our current projects and ideas as to where we're headed
If you have any suggestions for the Gamed2Death End of the Year Show, or for the blog in general, please feel free to leave a comment on this post. Be sure to check us out on Youtube! As far as what recommendations we're looking for, it really doesn't matter. Feel free to suggest games for the special let's play or games for future let's plays, what you'd like to see from one of the special appearances, what kind of awards show you would like to see, suggestions for future top 10s, and suggestions for any other segments. Also, feel free to ask any questions concerning the blog and show (keep in mind that we may make a Stefanovich117 Question of the Week video as well). Thank you!
We are thankful for quite a lot here at the blog! Sorry about the delay, but we all passed out after the pie. Be on the look out for a Thanksgiving related "segment" post!(most likely a top 10), and be sure to watch our Silent Hill Let's Play and 45 Nostalgic Games of Gamed2Death videos!
Based on "The Crab Crusher". Pretty simple, I know, but it's been a while since we've done anything like this. We'll be updated Gamed2DeathStuff in the next couple of months, so be on the look out.
While some survival horror games are psychologically creepy the whole way through, others are very rarely "creepy", and rely more on suspense, horrifying antagonists, and unpleasant surprises more than unsettling occurrences. This list will credit the former, that being games with some of the most creepy and unsettling moments we have been doomed to witness. Happy Halloween, and with that, let the list begin!:
10. Ao Oni- Death of Mika
I won't lie, I understand that there have been a lot of excellent indie survival horror games lately(Slender, Amnesia, Ao Oni, and several others), and they all have some pretty creepy moments from what I've heard, but, given that this is the only one I have played, I have to say this scene fits the list pretty well, complete with a creepy monster angling his head so that his eye's face the player just seconds after beginning to tear into one of your comrades.
9. Luigi's Mansion- Lion Head Statue Thing
(It was just to the right of this screen. I would take my own picture, but that would mean I would have to play through the game up to that point, and that would take effort.)
I don't know why, but this thing always used to creep me out.Oh, now I remember why, because it is freaking creepy.
8. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time- Dead Hand
For those of you who thought Zelda was full of sunshine and rainbows.
7. Rocky Mountain Trophy Hunter 3- Wolf Head in Trophy Room
(Taken from the loading screen because I don't want to take the time to hunt, and by hunt I mean poach, one down. )
Something about wolves that have a seemingly grayish- minty green hue and look extremely hostile and carnivorous have always made me feel a bit unsettled. The worst part is, the game considers them "endangered", so they're not technically legal to kill. Of course I always obey in-video game laws(nervous laugh).
6. Carnivores Cityscape- Abandoned Dino Corp ship
While I believe this ties pretty closely with the creepy spiritual voice at the temple in the first Carnivores, I want to limit this list to one entry per series, and thus, because we spent three videos paying attention to the creepy voice, I chose The Ship.
5. Uncharted: Drakes Fortune- Death of Eddie and the "unwelcome guests"
I seriously didn't see this coming. It would have been worse if Drakes Deception, particularly its lack of extreme mythology, had come first in the series.
4. F.E.A.R. 3- Bathroom Stall
This game really needs more blood.
3. Singularity- Camera Scene
While this would easily fit on our yet-to-be "Top 10 Most Thrilling Scares and Startling Moments in Video Games" list, it's pretty creepy as well.
2. Resident Evil- The death of Kenneth
Pretty nasty stuff in both incarnations.
1. Silent Hill 2- Pyramid Head
Does this one really need any video or explanation? The side of his head is shaped like a freaking triangle! Any time he pops up, things are guaranteed to be extremely creepy.
Well, that's all for now. As always, feel free to discuss the list in the comments section, and be sure to check out our Youtube channels! Happy Halloween!
We recently completed our Resident Evil 2 Let's Play, and are working on compiling all of our let's play series into play lists. Here is the first one:
While it can be fun to debate the plural version of moose(meese, mooses, meesi, mosomesimus, etc), it's even more fun to see m...these creatures- in video games. The following list displays some of my favorites.
1. Rocky Mountain Trophy Hunter 3
2. Cabela's Dangerous Hunts
3. Hunting Unlimited
4. Big Game Hunter 2004
5. Cabela's Grand Slam Hunting 2
6. Trophy Hunter 2003
I guess I could have taken a picture of an in game moose, but the mysterious background shadow moose on the menu was much more intriguing.
7. Deer Hunter Tournament
(Courtesy of BAAAASJE on Youtube)
8. Rocky Mountain Trophy Hunter
9. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
At least I think that's a moose...
10. Resident Evil Zero
To be honest, I was going to make number 10 the original Cabelas Outdoor Adventures game, but because it irritates Jburitto, Eljoeyo, and Porpoisemonkey, I decided to pick a Resident Evil game instead. :)
Well that's all for now. If you any recommendations for future lists, or you just want to share your opinion about this one, feel free to leave a comment in the comment section. Thanks!
There are many places and locations in games which seem to stick in our minds long after we finish playing the games themselves. Whether it is because of the memorable soundtrack, the outstanding atmosphere, or beautiful portraying of the area, these places all arouse memories of the good times we had reaching and exploring them. When these places are accurately re-presented in future games, it is often both surprising and nostalgia-inducing. The following are 10 games which do this especially well.
1. Wii Sports Resort: Same Island as Wii Fit
While playing the jogging game on Wii Fit, you may note that certain locations are familiar; the bridge, for example. Upon further inspection, I came to the realization that the island around which you are jogging is the same one that hosts the games of Wii Sports Resort.
2. Call of Juarez Bound in Blood: Juarez's Hideout & Treasure Vault
These two locations which are vital to the plot of Call of Juarez were fully graphically updated and yet accurately presented in its prequel, Call of Juarez Bound in Blood, and they play a crucial role in that game as well. In Bound in Blood, though you wander further into the depths of the hideout, areas from the first game are still locatable and quite recognizable.
3. Resident Evil Zero: Warehouse from RE2
Among the many pleas of Resident Evil fans, one of the most predominant other than returning the game to survival horror is to remake Resident Evil 2 and 3. While Capcom has yet to do this, they have teased fans in several ways, one of which was visiting a few locales from RE2 in RE0. For a short amount of time, Rebecca enters the underground laboratory, which mysteriously seems to be abandoned even a few months before the Raccoon City incident. The warehouse and its corresponding save room are visited as well, and they all look visually fantastic.
4. Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess: Temple of Time
This one was admittedly a surprise to me, but it was definitely a pleasant one. Upon going through an apparently broken door, you are taken many years into the past. The sacred grove is no longer to be found, however. Instead, the player finds themselves in an incredibly familiar place: the Temple of Time, complete with nostagia-linked-goosebump inducing music. The place is remarkably similar to the one in Ocarina of Time, and is sure to bring back many memories.
5. Red Dead Redemption: Twin Rocks
As recommended to me by my friend Eljoeyo. As I haven't played either of these games, I can't tell you exactly how nostalgia inducing the locale is, but apparently the hideout is fairly well recreated.
6. Jak 3: Haven City
As with the previous entry on the list, I have not played these games, although I've seen gameplay of them. Porpoisemonkey recommended this location to me. As with the other, I can't give a detailed description of it, but once again I am under the impression that it is similar between the two games.
7. Godzilla Series: Monster Island
This series famous residence of colossal beasts may be found in just about ever Godzilla game. It always contrasts to the urban environments that primarily make up the game, presenting players with a giant outdoor environment to wreck havoc in. Watch out for the electric fences...
8. CoD Black Ops: Classic Zombies Maps
While this doesn't entirely fit the list, I figured that it is nice to see some of the best Zombies maps visually upgraded and playable in Black Ops. If only they addon packs didn't cost so much...and if only you could use World at War weapons from the mystery box...
9. Resident Evil 3: Raccoon Police Department
Now I know this is the second entry I've listed in the Resident Evil series, but hey, the series seem to be full of 'em. The RPD is one of the most scenic and memorable places in the Resident Evil universe. It plays a large role in Resident Evil 2. It's nice to revisit it in RE3 (though really it takes place before RE2) although running from the Nemesis reduces the time you have to take in the familiar scene.
10. New Super Mario Bros.: First Level
Super Mario Bros. is pretty much one of the most iconic and popular games of all time. It's hard to call yourself a gamer without having played it at some point in your life. So Nintendo decided to give fans a taste of something familiar and yet fresh with New Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo DS. The first level of the game bares similarity to the first level of the original game, especially the beginning of the level.
Well that's all I have for now. Thanks for reading, and be sure to check back for more top 10's and trophies/achievements.
This list has been drafted to celebrate the release of Resident Evil 6. Before starting to read this list, let me confirm your presumptions; yes many of Capcom's games will be featured on this list. Because some of the items are on this list for apparent reasons, I'll try to keep the descriptions fairly short. Enjoy! (Note: I will be blaming the downfall of many of these once at least half-way decent game series on the mysteriously popular and very over-hyped games in the generic-shooter genre that currently seems to be one of the most popular (Yes, that does mean Call of Duty and Battlefield, thank you for asking). )
1. Resident Evil- While Resident Evil 4 was a revolutionary change for some RE fans, others didn't care to much for the new style. However, Resident Evil 4 stuck at least somewhat closely to the routes of the series. With the disappointing arrivals of RE 5 and the recently released RE 6, both of which drained every decent element of the series dry (mostly due to the fact that they attempted to steer the game in a completely new direction, but turned too hard and drove off a cliff), I think it's safe to assume that Capcom used kerosine on this series.
2. Cabela's Big Game Hunter- Another game that left its routes (in this case, a hunting game, where you HUNT for your prey in medium-relatively large locations), tried to become a generic Call of Duty-like action shooter, and failed miserably.
3. Call of Juarez- Another game that left its routes (in this case, a western-fps, where you travel through various western environments and engage in various non-generic "missions" that are actually somewhat interesting), tried to become a generic modern, extremely mature, inappropriate, vulgar, and uninteresting Call of Duty-like shooter, and failed miserably.
4. Dino Crisis- It's like Resident Evil with dinosaurs. This includes that downfall of Resident Evil.
5. Devil May Cry- Honestly, has anything every gone wrong when Capcom tried to take a series that Shinji Mikami started and changed it to suit their own tastes? Of course not, so why not leap at the next opportunity to totally destroy and redo a series that no one wants to see recreated? Sure they could just try to make a decent sequel, but, with all this reputation, why even bother?
6. Lost Planet- I personally enjoyed what little of the first game I played; the idea seems fairly unique (at least to some degree), and everything seemed at least some-what cool, be it the gameplay, the design, the graphics, etc.. Then, all of that was dropped in the shredder, courtesy of Capcom. :)
7. Hunting Unlimited- While the series did adopt the tactic that Call of Duty has made popular, releasing a game every year and making very few changes/ inhancements, at least the game's formula worked. With the release of Hunting Unlimited 2011, it's probably safe to assume that this series took a heart shot.
8. Dangerous Hunts- Another game that left its routes (in this case, a survival, mission based hunting game) and became, at least after the second game, a generic shooter that tells a boring story and offers very little entertainment, mostly due to the lack of elements that made the first one (and in some ways, the second) so great: hunting, fear, suspense, action in mild doses, mystery, etc. Let's blame Call of Duty for this one.
9: Metal of Honor- Same old Call of Duty story.
10: Ratchet and Clank- To be honest I've never played this one, but Porpoisemonkey recommended it for this list, so I'll just assume it belongs here.
Well, that will be all for now. Please feel free to discuss this list, or topics for future lists, or anything of that nature in the comments section, and be sure to check us out on Youtube!
Upon considering how we could improve our end of the year "show"-segment-thing(admittedly, last year's was mediocre at best), we decided that we would start with a build up segment, of which the content is mutual with the title of this post; we(the main members of this blog, Porpoisemonkey, Anglerbe, and myself, Anglerte) have decided to draft up lists containing 15 of our most nostalgic games (because some of the items on our original lists were mutual between the three of us, this is not necessarily a list of our most nostalgic games, although the games we have selected are pretty high that list), of which we will take turns creating different types of videos for(ex: short let's plays, gameplay montages, gameplay montages with music, straight up gameplay with no commentary, etc). The last three episodes of this segment will be revealed during our end-of-the-year special. We will reveal more about this special as the end of the year draws nearer (let's face it, the Mayan's ran out of space on their rock; we don't want to be the blog that over looked an end-of-the-year special because we thought the world was going to end). The special will include segments such as live action skits, potential awards shows(although not likely for games from this year, namely because there haven't been many that we've particularly enjoyed ), a potential "Rumors and Mysteries" video segment(suggestions are welcome), possibly some stuff relating to Filmed2Death, and other such garbage(sorry, did I type that out loud?). If you have any questions, requests, suggestions, or an entirely random and pointless statement, feel free to say something in the comments section. Thank you.
We've done a Rumors and Mysteries video on Leon's section of the RE6 demo to test just how much better or worse RE6 is than past games. We will also be playing the other characters' sections shortly. This is an anniversary video for both Anglerte and myself. Enjoy!
Hosted by two different groups, Burnt Banana Sandwich(Anglerbe, Anglerte, Eljoeyo) and Porpoisemonkey Movie's (guess who), Filmed2Death is our new blog dedicated to films, and, other than that factor, is very similar to this blog in pretty much every way, so if you enjoy this blog, and you're an avid(or only an occasional) movie watcher, be sure to check out Filmed2Death, as well as these two Youtube channels. Thank you! Enjoy!:
After so many failed attempts to make a cross over Call of Duty like action shooter out of a hunting game, it appears that Cabelas is finally converting back to the old "player actually gets to hunt" style. Now if only Capcom would do the same with their games.
Just as with soundtracks from all(or most) other game genres, hunting games (particularly from around 1999-2003) tend to have excellent (and in most cases, nostalgic) soundtracks. Arranged in no particular order, the following is a list of noteworthy soundtracks that have a description such as that that was previously described (excellent quality and potentially have nostalgic value to some people. Not too many standards there, so there's quite a few to choose from.):
1. Rocky Mountain Trophy Hunter 3-"Trophy Room"
One of my personal favorite, this song is like "Zelda's Lullaby"; it just makes you happy(although I don't think it gives you access to areas that were otherwise restricted, other than your trophy room, of course).
2. Rocky Mountain Trophy Hunter 3-"Main Menu"
Take what I said about the previous item and square it, and there you have an excellent description for this soundtrack.
3. Deer Hunter 2004- "Main Menu"
An excellent blend of blues and country. Too bad this game didn't last very long before it's sequel came out.
4. Deer Hunter 2005- "Main Menu"
While I personally don't think this main theme is quite as good as its predecessor's, it's definitely a catchy country-western-style theme that goes great with any hunt of this style.
5. Deer Hunter 2005- "Trophy Room"
I found this style of trophy room interesting; while most other trophy room soundtracks attempt to sound optimistic so that you'll be positive about your virtual hunting accomplishments, Deer Hunter 2005's soundtrack went the other direction, to some degree. The soundtrack is very slightly depressing, and this actually adds a nostalgic flavor to the feeling of the trophy room. I guess they did this because they wanted you to think about all the good times you had playing the game while you looked at your trophies.
6. Cabelas Big Game Hunter 2004- "Main Menu"
This soundtrack goes perfect with the animated background on the main menu, which, as you know if you played the game, pans all around a 3d environment. In short, this soundtrack describes the style of the older Cabelas games; complete hunting objectives while you're still actually hunting.
7. Cabelas Dangerous Hunts- "Main Menu"
The original Dangerous Hunter was a very interesting style of game; it took survival-horror, got rid of a lot of the horror, and combined what was left with a suspenseful, mission-based hunting game. The menu soundtrack depicts this combination perfectly; a jungle-like, suspenseful, dramatic theme that foreshadows coming action, adventure, and danger.
8. Trophy Hunter 2003-"Main Menu"
Another country-western-style theme.
9. Trophy Hunter 2003- "Trophy Room"
This track follows a style similar to that of item 5 (Deer Hunter 2005-"Trophy Room"). I personally prefer this one, because there seems to be a little more to it. It also reminds me slightly of a Montgomery Gentry song.
10. Bird Hunter Wild Wings- "Main Menu"
A fine bluegrass-style theme that suits the game perfectly.
Well, that's all for this list. As always, if you have anything to say about the list, or if you have any recommendation for future lists (I will more than likely create a "sequel" to this list, in which I add 10 more songs that fit the necessary description. There's just so many of them.), or if you have anything to say at all, feel free to leave a comment in the comments section. Be sure to check us out on Youtube! Thank You! Now let's go digital hunting...
We have updated both "Extreme Shooting: Cow Hunting", and "The Crab Crusher", so if you downloaded either game, be sure to download the newest version(s). Thank you! If you have any comments about either game, feel free to say something in the comments section of this post.
We've noticed that some of our Rumors and Mysteries videos have been recieving a considerable amount of views (thank you for those of you who watched them), and several people have suggested that we make more of them. The only issue is, we're really not sure how to go about doing that. Other than a few fragments of ideas, we're not too sure what we should make our next video about yet. If you have any suggestions or recomendations, please feel free to comment on this post or one of our "Rumors and Mysteries" videos. Thank you!
The following is a list of games that we believe don't receive nearly enough attention, especially considering some of the current "most popular" games (and I do use that to describe the amount of people who play them, not like them).
1: The Crab Crusher
I know what your thinking; "isn't promoting your own game on a top ten list just a little bias?". Well first of all, this isn't even a top ten list, it's just a list that happens to contain ten items that are definitely NOT ARRANGED IN ANY NUMERICAL ORDER AS TO ENHANCE THE APPEARANCE OF THE GAMES AT THE TOP OF THE LIST!!! Yes, there is a VERY, VERY BIG DIFFERENCE!!! Secondly, well.....whatever. I'll just start over then. But first you should check this very interesting, aspiring game out on Indievania and the SlideMe Market. For more information, go to:
This is one of those platforming games that seems somewhat generic at first glance, but then when you actually play it, you discover that it's EXTREMELY GENERIC, yet SUPERBLY UNIQUE AT THE SAME, FREAKING TIME!!! What do I mean by this? I really don't know. I've been around Eljoeyo and Jburitto way too much lately. Anyway, this game is one of those plat-formers that keeps you climbing back up every time you fall off. With a wide variety of eggs to chose from (that would be about ten; the fact that you can only hunt 5 animals in Hunting UNLIMITED 1 has slightly corrupted my sense of numerical judgement). If you like games like...uhhh.......this..one then you should definitely check this one out.
2: Ao Oni
This is just another one of those indie survival horror games that people play when they're too cheap to buy Resident Evil and Silent Hill, or when they just want a new horror experience. (Cough pointless Cough) Speaking of pointless, unlike Slenderman the Game, this game actually has a point. while it's not quite as suspenseful as walking around a pitch black forest in the dead of night with nothing but a flashlight, if you play this with out watching any walk-throughs (good luck with some of those puzzles ;) ), there will probably some points in the game that make you jump out of your skin, and the chases are pretty terrifying as well, assuming you don't modify the soundtrack that plays when the blue demon is chasing you. If you like survival-horror, puzzle, or adventure games, definitely check this one out. You may have an experience like this one:
Or this one:
3: Hunting Unlimited
While it seems like there are quite a few hunting game fans that have played the newer games in the series (at least according to Youtube), it seems as though a lot of people have neglected to play the game that started it all. Unlike the later games in the series, which began to follow Call of Duty's copy and paste style game design (although now I believe the game has changed developers entirely), HU was very unique; you didn't pack your own gear and go out and search for 45 minutes until you finally found an elk (which you would probably shoot at, miss, and it would get away), and you certainly weren't thrown in front of a rampaging stampeded of wild grizzly bears, moose(mooses, moosi, moosesesss, whatever), deer and and explosion of pheasants in arcade shoot 'em up style massacre game. Hunting Unlimited sends you on various hunting challenges, of which all are unlocked when you start the game, so you can play them in any order. Obviously, some are much more difficulty than others. The difficulty levels also vary based on the equipment you are given and the animals you are hunting; on the positive side, if you're hunting White-tailed Deer, they probably won't maul you, but you'll have to dedicate a lot of effort into attracting them over to your stand (or where ever the current mission wants you to lure them). On the other side of the......something with multiple sides...if you're hunting Grizzlies, they probably won't run away, but sometimes you'll probably want to. If you like hunting games that aren't arcade "throw as many animals as possible on screen at one time" style, but you don't like having to wait an hour just to find something, you should definitely HUNT this one down. HEY YOU IN THE BACK! WHY AIN'T YOU LAUGHING!!!? Whatever.
4: Limbo
This one was actually a recommendation from Porpoisemonkey, so, I actually haven't really played it...at all. I don't know if that makes this game a better choice for this list because I don't know if it's a good game, but I don't know if it's a good game because I haven't played it, and that's what qualifies it to be on this list, so....oh well. From the looks of it, Limbo is a some-what creepy black and white adventure-puzzle game. Other than that, you'll have to check it out for yourself.
5: The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena
Another recommendation by Porpoisemonkey, and, once again, I've never heard of it. I guess this list is just as beneficial to me as to anyone. From the looks of it, this is a science-fiction action semi-stealth and tactical first-person-shooter. Other than that, once again, you'll have to check this one out for yourself.
6: Psychonauts
A recommendation by Eljoeyo. Once again, I haven't played it. However, from what I've heard about it, it has some pretty interesting game-play. Basically (from what I understand), you enter the minds of psychotics and try discover some sort of something about the plot: a mad scientist who did something. Well, obviously my understanding isn't very vivid, so, if I in anyway somehow made this game sound somewhat interesting to you, be sure to check it out. Moving on.
7: Carnivores: Cityscape
Play as a Human or a Dino:
For those who played and enjoyed the original Carnivores hunting games, Cityscape was a bit of a disappointment; in this adaption, the game changed genres from sports(hunting) to a somewhat creepy/suspenseful action first person shooter. Because I actually know about this game, I could probably write a novel about what this game did right, what it did wrong, what it could have improved upon, and why it should be ported or remade (as well as what it should be ported to). While I do believe they should have included some sort of hunting mode, the fps element made for an interesting (although somewhat repetitive) experience. Mostly owing to some of the games creepy soundtracks, atmosphere, and ambient sound-effects/tracks, the first time you play through this game (assuming you haven't watched any walk-throughs or let's plays), you'll definitely find yourself jumping out of your skin when a nano tyrannous comes lunging out of the darkness, and at many points, you'll find yourself afraid to move on for fear of some satanic creature lurking just beyond the shadows. Once you've overcome your fears, however, the combat starts to get a little repetative; that's not to say that blowing the everything out of every dino on the planet stops being fun, and you can always play the campaign as a dinosaur and run around killing hostile humans, but it would have been nice if they had changed it up a little bit so that you had to do more than shoot, run, protect moronic survivors, and repeat. The multi-player mode could have been a really nice experience as well (and indeed, the co-op is pretty fun the first few times you play), if not for a few factors. First, you'll definitely find that, even when using LAN, the game has a very hard time staying connected. Regardless of this fact, we haven't experienced too much lag while playing co-op, but once the game disconnects, its almost impossible to get it connected again unless you wait about 12 hours and then try again (we're not too sure why this is the case). The competitive game modes are much easier to join and sustain a decent internet connection while playing, however, without a decent-sized group of people to play with, you'll probably grow board of them very quickly. Overall, if they threw in a hunting mode, added some things on to make the campaign less repetitive, and patched up some of the problems with the multi-player, this game would have had a lot more potential to be a very popular shooter, and it would have appealed more to the fans of the games preceding it. Even so, it's not too late for some sort of port or remake, and you should definitely check this one out.
Multiplayer:
Soundtracks:
8: Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem
Supposedly one of the first mature titles available for Nintendo's Gamecube, once again, I admit to you that I've never played this one. Actually, I've never even heard of it, but, ever since I played Resident Evil 1, I've always been interested to look into any survival horror games I hear about (this is how I came about playing Ao Oni, and I plan to start the Silent Hill series in the near future). Unlike many survival-horror games, EDSR supposedly doesn't use the tank like controls, which probably helped it avoid hundreds of unnecessary negative criticisms from people who are too fat and lazy to get used to the FREAKING controls. If you're a fan of survival-horror, I would definitely look into this one.
9: Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee
While most (if not all) Godzilla fighting games have received fairly low reviews and strong negative criticisms for things such as faulty camera angles, repetitive gameplay, blah bah blah, I personally haven't had a major problem with any of them. While I've never been a major godzilla fan (I know, I know, those special effects in the movies are pretty hard to resist), to be able to enjoy this type of game, you really don't need to be. With several different game-play modes and four-player local multi-player, there's plenty of fun to be had with this game, with or without your friends. There's a decent amount of monsters to chose from, and plenty of destruction to carry out. If that sounds like your kind of game, check this one out! You may also want to look into its successors, Godzilla: Save the Earth, and Godzilla: Unleashed.
10: Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3
While Rainbow Six isn't exactly one of those rare and unheard of games, I'd be willing to bet that there's a lot of people who haven't played this one. I could probably write more about this game if I felt like it, but we've recorded so much gameplay of it (we've pretty much beaten the dead horse 'till we killed it with that one do to the fact that we show the same videos every time we talk about this game), I've decided to just show that instead. If you look co-op tactical shooters that are some what fun and not over hyped, check this one out!
